  1. The Serpent

From the recording The Serpent

Lyrics

The serpent began eating her tail, as she did many times before.
Shedding her skin, outside and in, like on projects I’d planned to set sail.
Living and dying and dying and living, beginning again and again.
I said to the serpent, “where are you going?” And she gave me a cunning grin……..

“What does it matter, your life’s only chatter,” she said “you haven’t begun.”
“Forget tomorrow, it may cause you sorrow, it also may never come.

Stop all your whining and all of your pining, you’re only wasting time.”
“Look to the water and see your reflection, at least it’s still sublime.”

“Speak the truth, though it seems so rude, when all is said and done.
Pleasing others in spite of yourself, is a war that’s never won.”

“We’re all afraid of losing what we’ve got though we give ourselves up a lot.
Whatever you do remember yesterday’s done, be grateful for what you’ve got.”

“Don’t ever forget the ancient old myth, of Eve and the apple tree.
If Eve had never taken a bite, there would be no you or me.”

Living and dying and dying and living, beginning again and again.
I said to the serpent, “where are you going?” And she gave me her cunning grin……..

Outside and in, outside and in, beginning again and again, beginning again and again.
Shedding her skin, outside and in, outside and in, and in, and in, and in, and in, and in………..
