Jochebed
(The Story of Moses)
Susan Lowery ©2011

Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew
Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew
Took her baby down to the river, had him laid in weeds
In a basket made of bulrush, baby Moses floated free
Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew
Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew

Jochebed knew of Pharoah’s daughter
And prayed that she would bathe, on the bank of the river
Where her sweet baby was laid.
In a basket daubed in bitumen, plaster and in pitch
Baby Moses floated safe, free from harm’s way
Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew
Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew

Pharaohs’ daughter heard the baby, yes, she heard the baby cry
Took pity on the little Israelite, though her father condemned him to die
But she placed him with his mother, to nurse her baby she was paid
Whatever she did, Jochebed knew, she had the protection of faith

Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew
Jochebed heard a way, Jochebed knew

Drew him up from the water
Drew him up in faith, (out………….)
